How do I Get Started?
There are a few things that you’re going to need, prior to schooling on the cross-country course at Birds Hill Park (BHP) or attending a Derby.
Going to BHP XC Course to school the jumps: 1. Find out if the Course is open for schooling. There may be a Meet the Fences Day where we can help supply a XC Coach for you. Check out the Calendar of Events on our website. 2. Find an Insured Coach with an NCCP # who has registered their EC Coaching license to MHT, and who is willing to take you out on the course. 3. Pay your own Course User Fee of $30 to MHT before going on course. This must be done each time you use the course. Time and day of session must be given. 4. MHT membership is not required to school on course. ALL riders and coaches must have a Competitive Manitoba Horse Council Membership. 5. Riders must have an ASTM approved riding helmet and Riding Vest ASTM 1937 or BETA 3 accredited. |
To attend a Derby: 1. Riders must have a MHT Membership or Reciprocity Membership & MHC membership 2. A current (within six months) Coggins certificate and a current Vaccination certificate, including Influenza and EHV1&4. 3. Fill out the relevant online entry forms and pay your entry fee |
Reciprocity Memberships: MHT works with MHJA (Manitoba Hunter Jumper), MPC (Manitoba Pony Club), Dressage Winnipeg and Westman Dressage; to allow members from each group to attend all or a number of each other’s events, without the necessity of purchasing additional memberships. |
